Angela Davis is an American activist, scholar and author. She emerged as a prominent counterculture activist and radical in the 1960s through her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement, the Black Panthers and the Communist Party USA. She confirmed rumors that she is a lesbian in 1997. To this day she remains an advocate for civil justice including gay rights and prisoner’s rights.
