3,000 Hippos is a Pop Art project that blends art and design into an interactive art exhibit. Originating from the idea of making environmentalism fun, I am creating 3,000 one of a kind Pop Art hippo’s to represent the last 3,000 pygmy hippos left on earth. Like Andy Warhol’s “Soup Cans”, these 8×8 inch originals can stand alone or be stacked to create a larger work of art. 3,000 Hippos blurs the line between art and design not only in its execution and presentation, but because I created an entire print and social media campaign that became as important as the art itself. The public is able to vote for their favorite hippos online and the hippos with the most votes become “Famous”, meaning they become part of a larger print campaign that includes postcards, stickers, and t-shirts. So far we have raised over $1,000 for the cause. You can read the write up about 3000 Hippos  from 303 magazine here.
