Moms Mabley

(March 19, 1894 -May 23,1975)

Moms Mabley was a pioneer and top female comic from the 1920s through the 1970s. She was also one of the first openly gay comedians appearing in androgynous clothing as early as the 1920’s and recording several “lesbian stand-up” routines. By the end of her career she had recorded more than 20 comedy albums, appeared in television, movies and the best comedy clubs.
