“Civil Disobedience”is a series of drawings that recreate the Civil Rights movement through gay nudes that, thanks to artist Amelia J. Jones, were digitally transformed into posters and projections. The posters were used as gorilla art to protest for gay marriage. They were handed out in mass and ended up plastered on lamp posts and alleys across Denver. The 20 foot tall projection “Pride” ( a woman standing nude in a crowd carrying a pride flag) was on view during the 2112 election, and used in a special exhibition about survival at “Trace” gallery in Denver.
